WELCOME AND GREETINGS
PRELUDE “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” Donna Rhine
CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: The word of God came to Jonah, calling him to go to Nineveh!
People: But Jonah ran away, refusing to show mercy.
Leader: Yet, God's grace is greater than our disobedience, and God's love is wider
than our mercy.
People: Though we may run, God calls us back to life.
Leader: Let us worship the God who loves our neighbors and our enemies.
All: We will praise the God of salvation! Amen

OPENING PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
thank you for still speaking to us today.
Thank you for not condemning us
and always giving us a second chance.
Help us to remember we are called to love
as we are loved by you
with no conditions attached.
Help us to discern your voice
and be obedient to your call.
Give us the courage and wisdom
to do what you ask.
We pray these things in Jesus' name.
Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Lord Jesus,
I confess to you that so many times in my life
I have looked so very pious and religious,
yet, my heart has been so very far away from you.
Like Jonah, I have criticized others and failed
to see the humanity in them,
even though they are also your beloved children.
Forgive me of the very deep pride
that resides in my heart.
Help me to demonstrate my deep regret
with true humility,
and deliver me from the evil inside me.
Finally, Lord, by your Spirit's power,
bless me with a love to share your word.
In the name of Jesus, who humbled himself
and died for me. Amen
