Leader: When evildoers assail me to devour my flesh—my adversaries and foes—they shall stumble and fall.
People: Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident.

OPENING PRAYER
God, as you met Abraham and Moses and David and the Disciples in ordinary
moments of their lives, so we ask that you meet us today in the ordinary
moments of our lives. Open our minds to recognize your presence among us;
open our hearts to receive your promises; open our arms to embrace your
miraculous works with joy, wonder, and laughter.
As we gather to worship, help us find the courage to hope, the wisdom to
trust, the strength to forgive, and the perseverance to cooperate with you
as we work with you to bring about your Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
All-merciful, tender God, you have given birth to our world,
conceiving and bearing all that lives and breathes. We come to you
as your daughters and sons, aware of our aggression and anger, our
drive to dominate and manipulate others. We ask you to forgive us,
even as we struggle to forgive others.
By the gentle touch of your Spirit help us to find a renewed sense of
trust and compassion, that we may truly live as your people in
service to all. Amen.
